Trip Introduction
Langtang Valley is so close to Kathmandu, yet so far and unknown to majority of trekkers. This relatively short trek with stunning snow-capped Langtang mountains dominating the sky offer a first hand experience of Buddhist culture that is being separately practiced following the Sherpa and Tamang tradition and the epicenter of these traditional practices is the ancient Kyanjin Monastery.
Sunrise view from the Tserko Ri at altitude of 5,000 Mtr offers not just a magnificent sunrise but also views of Mt. Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Ri and Langtang Lirung. The Langtang National Park where the most of the trek lingers has diverse flora and fauna enjoyed by yak pastures producing yummy local cheese. Simple lifestyle of himalayan farmers living in harmony with wild deer, panda bears and the attention grabbing elusive red panda are native to this region.
To a sad yet encouraging note; the Langtang Village was sadly destroyed during the 2015 earthquake but the encouraging part is that the brave and hard working locals have rebuilt most of Langtang on their own and the area is now open for trekking.

In the afternoon, take a hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) for panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Ganchenpo, and other peaks. The hike is a bit challenging but offers unparalleled views. Afterward, return to Kyanjin Gompa for the night.
Day 5::To Tesrko Ri and back to kyanjin gompa
The ascent from Kyangjin Gompa (3,870 meters) to Tserko Ri (approximately 4,984 meters) is a demanding yet deeply rewarding excursion, typically requiring 5 to 7 hours for a round trip. Commencing in the early morning, the trail rises steeply through rugged, exposed terrain, gradually unveiling sweeping vistas of the surrounding Himalayas. Upon reaching the summit, trekkers are greeted with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Langtang range, including prominent peaks such as Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and, on clear days, the distant Shishapangma. Though physically strenuous, the journey is elevated by the profound sense of solitude and the striking natural beauty—particularly if timed to coincide with the sunrise.
Day 6::To Lama hotel
The trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel takes about 5–7 hours, mostly downhill through Langtang Village and lush forests. Though easier than the ascent, the descent can be tough on the knees. Scenic and peaceful all the way.
