Trip Introduction
Langtang Valley is so close to Kathmandu, yet so far and unknown to majority of trekkers. This relatively short trek with stunning snow-capped Langtang mountains dominating the sky offer a first hand experience of Buddhist culture that is being separately practiced following the Sherpa and Tamang tradition and the epicenter of these traditional practices is the ancient Kyanjin Monastery.
Sunrise view from the Tserko Ri at altitude of 5,000 Mtr offers not just a magnificent sunrise but also views of Mt. Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Ri and Langtang Lirung. The Langtang National Park where the most of the trek lingers has diverse flora and fauna enjoyed by yak pastures producing yummy local cheese. Simple lifestyle of himalayan farmers living in harmony with wild deer, panda bears and the attention grabbing elusive red panda are native to this region.
To a sad yet encouraging note; the Langtang Village was sadly destroyed during the 2015 earthquake but the encouraging part is that the brave and hard working locals have rebuilt most of Langtang on their own and the area is now open for trekking.
